3/16/2006 - The EP & My Top 10
Well, I'm honestly ashamed of myself.  I realized I've gone at least 3 months without writing something so now I have to be really clever & poignant to make up for it.  What better way than to talk about the cd project & give my own top 10 list.  I can sense the anticipation rising up in you guys already. :)

I'm trying to be cool and reserved and mature about this EP thing but really, I'm like this little kid in a candy store.  I'm so freakin' excited.  It's only 5 songs, but I'm so proud of all my friends who've given of their time and worked so hard on it, whether with their instrument or artwork or production expertise.  It's really cool to see a project come together by way of everybody using their own, unique gifts...that's how it should be.  I like being creative and being involved in a lot of things, but I never want to be a one-man show...I don't think I'd be very good at it, anyway.  :)  A cd release is on the horizon, coming in May...I know, later than I thought but genius takes time, people.  At least I'm not as bad as Philip...what is it, going on a year now we've been waiting for his solo project?  See, not so bad.

So I've made a top 10 list.  Not necessarily in any particular order; just things that have been eventful.  Here goes:

TOP 10 THINGS I CAN REMEMBER HAPPENING SINCE THE LAST TIME I WROTE:
10) Johnny Lloyd Rollins asked me to do some guest vocal & piano work on his upcoming cd.
9) I made Chase's quote of the week on his website (seriously, it's hard to get on there) with, "Oh, it could be like your album...Bright As My Punch!" (by Becky Middleton when discussing possible album titles for her EP.)
8) Lost is so good.  I jumped on the bandwagon during the second season and have been known to rent some of season 1 from Blockbuster...hey, I'd buy it if I had money.
7) On to the next meaningful activity: I saw almost every Oscar-nominated movie.  It's this strange fetish I have leading up to the Oscars every year.  Really I think I should be applauded for my interest in good art.
6) My friend Leah & I are the proud owners of cool cowboy boots...but if you're gonna break them in, don't do it at a standing-only concert for 4 hours.
5) In one week: I had a hit & run with my car, almost got hit 2 other separate times, & got 2 parking tickets in one day (only one was my fault).  I almost stopped driving.
4) For the EP, we took pictures outside.  The one day we had to do it was one of the coldest of the year.   I have a new appreciation for models.
3) The Longhorns won at the Rose Bowl!  Oh man, I wanted to move back to Austin for the day.
2) The Standard & Pours full band show...seriously, what a blessing.  So many came out to support this endeavor and it really is my most favorite show we've done so far...even though it was really cramped in there.
1) My sister got engaged.  Strange, overwhelming, exciting, sweet: all of the above.  This will be my first, close-up look at the progression from girl to crazy bride.  (Just kidding, it'll be great.)
